Since the launch of The Compass editorial channel in 2020, Editors’ Choice gear roundups have become our most successful editorial content. Driven by SEO, these roundups answer what overlanders are searching for, attracting tens of thousands of ready-to-buy readers each month. In 2022 alone, our Editors’ Choice stories sold more than $134,000 in gear for our affiliate partners.Calling all Exhibitors: Do you want Overland Expo’s The Compass to review your gear? Historically, each Editors’ Choice category was composed of gear from both exhibitors and affiliate partners we know and trust. Starting in 2023, Editors’ Choice roundups will be populated solely by gear we test and review.
Each piece of gear gets a standalone Gear Review. An abbreviated version of this review will be used to aggregate corresponding Editors’ Choice, as we continue to update them in 2023 and beyond. Gear Reviews stories are typically 600-1,000 words and include 8-10 unique, high-resolution photos shot by the reviewer. These reviews are featured in Overland Expo’s weekly email, as well as posted on Overland Expo’s social media channels, when they go live.
What does it take to participate?
Want your gear to be included on the Gear Reviews and Editors’ Choice pages? Tell us what you want to send in this Google Form. We’ll assign a writer and let you know where to send it. As is standard practice in the earned gear-review editorial model, the reviewer will retain the gear at the end of the evaluation.
We are so excited to work more closely with you, get hands-on with your products, and share our reviews with our audience on another level. If you have any questions about Gear Reviews, please feel free to reach out to Overland Expo’s Director of Communications, Nick Jaynes, at [email protected].
