TRAVIS MARTINOVERLAND DRIVING INSTRUCTOR

Travis Martin loves a good challenge. And in two decades as an off-road driving instructor, he’s encountered plenty of them. Travis found his way to dirt and gravel after traveling the country building coaxial infrastructure to address the widespread need for Internet access after serving in the military as a comms specialist. After seven years on the road as a journeyman, with his lifelong passion for travel stoked with every mile he drove, Travis was primed to find a career that merged his desire for adventure with his technical knowledge and skills in creative problem solving.

Raised in a family of car enthusiasts, Travis was destined to ruin every article of clothing he would ever own. While his grandfather’s collection was rooted in early-1900’s car-show classics, Travis gravitated toward diesel-powered off-road workhorses. Back home in Asheville, North Carolina, Travis jumped at an opportunity to teach at the Biltmore’s brand-new Land Rover Driving Experience; a year later, he was leading the program at Quail Lodge in Carmel Valley, California.

In the years since his early days with Land Rover, Travis has worked with many auto brands teaching off-road driving and recovery skills, including with Toyota Trail Teams, CAM Mobility, Mitsubishi, Can-Am, Jeep, and Ford Bronco. He has built trails and led instruction from remote landscapes in the California and Utah deserts, to international events in Mexico and Japan and high-altitude expeditions in Colorado, Canada, and New England. He is based in the Pacific Northwest with his home in Astoria, Oregon.
