MEDIA CREDENTIALS & SHORTS
Due to the high volume of media applications, you must meet and provide proof of at least one of the following qualifications:
- Current employment with a professional print, online magazine, or media outlet (not a personal blog).
- Freelance assignment from a recognized media outlet (must include an assignment letter).
- Owner of a blog with a significant and relevant following (see criteria below).
We prioritize applications from working media with confirmed assignments or those affiliated with established print, video, or digital outlets.
To be considered for media credentials as a blogger, you must meet all of the following criteria:
- Established Presence: Your blog must have a proven track record and several years of consistent activity.
- Strong Readership: Successful applicants typically have 100,000+ monthly page views and a large, engaged audience.
- Meaningful Influence: You should have 10,000+ followers on social media platforms, with active engagement and a clear connection to the overlanding or adventure travel community.
Please do not apply if you do not meet these minimum requirements.
- Credential Limit: Media credentials are limited to one person per outlet (two in rare cases—please email us in advance if you need more).
- Access: Approved media receive free admission to Overland Expo, including access to audit classes and programs.
Note: Premium driving and recovery classes are reserved for paying students due to limited space. In rare cases, direct participation may be arranged based on your assignment. - Perks: You’ll receive an attendee bag and drink tickets, including access to the Thursday Welcome Reception.
- Drone Policy: Drone use is strictly prohibited at all Overland Expo venues—no exceptions.
- Post-Event Coverage: You must provide links or copies of all published media following the event.
Failure to submit coverage may affect your eligibility for future credentials. - Waiver Requirement: All credentialed media must sign a Communicable Disease and General Liability Waiver to enter the event.
Overlanding is a way to describe exploring by your own self-contained means, usually by vehicle (often with four-wheel-drive capability) or adventure motorcycle. It’s long been a traditional way to describe safaris in Africa or exploring in Australia. Brits head “overland” to Africa and Asia and across the Continent.
We use the term to differentiate the activity from other four-wheel-drive activities such as rock-crawling or rallying. For overlanders, the journey is as important as the destination or the activities that we do when we get to our destination (if there even is a specific destination): hiking, nature watching, kayaking, mountain biking, and so on.
For overlanders, camping is really a highlight as well—we enjoy innovations such as roof-top tents, 12-volt fridges, and high-quality awnings, ground tents, kitchen kits, and equipment such as compressors, winches, and other recovery gear.

Overland Expo is designed as a unique event to introduce consumers to all the innovative equipment for camping and vehicles, and to introduce travel enthusiasts to the pleasures of exploring the world by your own self-contained means, whether it’s an old van or a new Land Cruiser or Sportsmobile or BMW motorcycle.
Through social events, programs, classes, and exhibitors, Overland Expo is the largest and most unique event combining adventure travel, vehicles, and motorcycles with education & commerce.
There are three ways to attend: register online ahead for an all-inclusive education package—the Overland Experience—or if you just want to check out vendors and view films, seminars, and demos, join us with a Weekend Pass with Camping or individual Day Passes. All tickets must be purchased in advance online.
