• Verifiable employment with a professional print magazine, newspaper, or online magazine or media site that is not a personal blog (see below for blog information).
• Verifiable assignment as a freelance journalist or photographer from a professional print magazine, newspaper, or online magazine or media site that is NOT a personal blog (see below for blog information).
• You must have an assignment letter.
• Owner of a blog with a significant following in a relevant industry (SEE BELOW)

WE GIVE PRIORITY TO APPLICATIONS FROM WORKING MEDIA WITH ASSIGNMENTS OR FROM ESTABLISHED PRINT, VIDEO, OR ONLINE MEDIA RESOURCES.

IF YOU ARE A BLOGGER, YOU MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:

• longevity (a site with many years online)
• readership (successful blogger applicants have many thousands of readers and page views in the 100,000+ range)
• influence (successful applicants have 10,000+ followers on social media channels with an active and genuine connection to relative communities)

DO NOT APPLY IF YOU DO NOT MEET THESE REQUIREMENTS PLEASE!

1. We limit media credentials to one person per outlet (two in rare cases; email us first if you need more than one).
2. You will be able to attend Overland Expo for free to audit classes and programs. [Note: Direct participation in the premium / advanced driving and recovery classes is reserved for paying students due to the shortage of space in premium classes. In a few cases we may arrange for direct participation depending on the assignment.]
3. You will receive an attendee bag and happy hour drinks tickets (including Thursday welcome reception).
4. You are not permitted to fly a drone at any time on the event premises. Drone use is prohibited at every Overland Expo facility.
5. You will provide Overland Expo management with links to / copies of all media published after the show.
6. You may not receive media credentials in the future if management does not receive proof of published material within a reasonable time period.
7. YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO SIGN A COMMUNICABLE DISEASE AND GENERAL LIABILITY HOLD HARMLESS WAIVER IN ORDER TO ENTER THE EVENT.

Overlanding is a way to describe exploring by your own self-contained means, usually by vehicle (often with four-wheel-drive capability) or adventure motorcycle. It’s long been a traditional way to describe safaris in Africa or exploring in Australia. Brits head “overland” to Africa and Asia and across the Continent.

We use the term to differentiate the activity from other four-wheel-drive activities such as rock-crawling or rallying. For overlanders, the journey is as important as the destination or the activities that we do when we get to our destination (if there even is a specific destination): hiking, nature watching, kayaking, mountain biking, and so on.

For overlanders, camping is really a highlight as well—we enjoy innovations such as roof-top tents, 12-volt fridges, and high-quality awnings, ground tents, kitchen kits, and equipment such as compressors, winches, and other recovery gear.
